Dear Bruno

SCISCO is seeking to recruit retired/nearly retired volunteers on the Gold Coast to encourage secondary students into a skills shortage area.

As you can see on the attached flyer, Chef is noted as career of focus

Volunteers spend an hour a week with a young person.

Training is in April 2009 and the program, starting in June 2009 is as follows,

Funded by DEEWR (Australian Government)

Operated by SCISCO Career Pathways  a Local Community Partnership

MFOS aims to

“Engage young people with recently retired trades people, professionals and paraprofessionals as mentors to encourage young people to seek out careers in areas experiencing skill shortages and to enhance their industry knowledge.”

MFOS will target the following identified skill shortage careers in,

Areas: chef, metal and sheet metal worker, motor mechanic, welder, vehicle panel beater and spray painter, toolmaker and auto electrician.

computing, registered midwife, registered nurse, registered mental health nurse, pharmacist, medical radiographer, medical sonographer, child care co-ordinator, child care worker and physiotherapist.

I am happy to speak with any groups or individuals regarding this and have attached a flyer
