Presidents Report The whole experience of Oceana Fest was fantastic, Keaton and I enjoyed our experience thoroughly and learned a great deal also. The competition is the only one in Australia that is world recognised. Steven Forrester, the Newly appointed President of the Australian Culinary Federation ACT chapter and Head chef at Parliament House Catering by IHG competed against world renowned chefs for the Most outstanding chef award and was awarded two bronze medals. The competition overall was won by the Hong Kong team, who had to
compete against the likes of Australia and Singapore also. competed in four apprentice categories and won three gold medals and a bronze medal, and finished with the highest aggregate score overall to win Apprentice of the Year. As the new President of the Australian Culinary Federation ACT chapter, it was a great opportunity to meet some of Australia's and the worlds best chefs, including the president of WACS (World Association of Cooks Societies) Chef Gissur Gudmunsson from Iceland. I would like to recommend to all chefs and apprentices to join the Australian Culinary Federation and get involved with competitions, not only for the medals and prizes, but the great experience of networking with the top chefs in the country and the world and overall, the learning experience that it comes with. Thanks to Patrick O'Brien, President of the Western Australian chapter and Secretary of Australian Culinary Federation Nationally, also organiser and director of Oceana Fest for the great competition and show the he and his colleagues from Perth put on, it really was a world class event. Kind Regards, Steven ForresterPresident ACT.
