110 Brisbaneites have the dinning experience of a life time!!

The Australian Culinary Olympic Team held it’s 1 st trail dinner for 110 very happy patrons at the prestigious Brisbane Club which is the domain of co-manager Rick Stephen.

The team flew into Brisbane on the Saturday to start work on some of their static work, where a number of re-developed dishes were presented on the Sunday at mid day.

Then the big work out started, weighing all ingredients for the 5 hour cook-off as well portioning in preparation of the eager taste buds of some of Brisbane most astute foodies. The dinner it’s self has been sold since the day after the announcement of the team coming to do the dinner at the Brisbane Club. Expectations were high and were achieved on the evening.

The menu, which is still been developed by the team as an on going exercise to put the best food up that is possible to make in the 5 hour time limit, at this stage just like test for the new Holden commodore, everything is behind closed door and a secret until all has been locked in.

The dinner naturally would not have been viable with out the support of the team’s sponsors, Fonterra, KR Castlemaine, Crown Casino, Moffat PTY, Yoshikin /Global,Bidvest and some lovely wines were drunk on the evening from Tyrell’s wines.

During the dinner, co-team manger Glenn Austin gave an overview of the Sponsors and the team’s commitment to them as this is viable working partnership that has mutual benefits for not only sponsors, the team but also the whole Australian cookery fraternity. The dinners were entertained by a voluntary piano student who is studying at the music conservatory.

Rick Stephen was introduced just after dessert and spoke on Australia’s history at the Olympic Games, he then introduced each team member one by one to an outstanding reception.

In the post training meeting, Rick outlaid to the team members on areas that will need to be improved and worked on, as this was the 1 st time that the menu had been cooked for 110 people instead of the 10 which have been done during training sessions, all members agreed on the improvements required.

The following day after the dinner was completed, co-manager Rick Stephen received a letter from the Prime Minister Mr. Kevin Rudd wishing the team well not only on their selection, but also on the actual competition.

The team will be in Canberra on the 15 th of June, Sydney on the 30 th of June, back in Brisbane on the 4 th of August, then in Melbourne in September, if you a looking for a ticket for this event, go to the ACF website for the particular state www.austculinary.com.au
