A message to all members, mark this date the 7th September 2011 in your memory banks as the day the Australian Culinary Federation finally became a 100% fully united organisation. During an historic board meeting the presidents of each state passed a motion that recognises ACF members as national members removing the existing state barriers. This vote was passed unanimously with the exception of NSW who abstained from the vote after heated discussions. The ACF will now streamline the current membership system centrally issuing and managing member’s details, membership packs and cards. The importance of this judgment removes the need for each state to duplicate the arduous task of membership processing each year, freeing up valuable time to focus on better issues. When chefs activate their membership they will be issued with a membership card that will be valid for the next 12 months, and the funds will be transferred to the state of origin but the membership is considered National so all members will be recognised as members of the ACF not members of a particular state. This will happen simultaneously throughout the country in addition to all of our activities all members will receive information and updates at the same time, including newsletters and notifications.
In other news calls for entries will be issued for the inaugural MLA, ACF chef of the year competition 2012, this will be held in conjunction with Taste of Australia in South Australia starting 26th April, this event is open to all chefs in Australia who will compete in 3 categories, Restaurant, Bistros and caterers.
During September the Nestle Golden chefs hat final was held at Ryde Tafe concluding with a Nestle first of Cameron Wetton winning his third title in succession with the assistance of team mate Mathew Wynn, Cameron is still eligible to compete for another 3 years. Many thanks to the entire Nestle and ACF teams and our supporters MLA, Mirvac & Humpty Doo Barramundi who create this very successful junior chefs program that gives considerable amount of time and resources to ensure our chefs have the best available opportunities.
So to all Australian members of the Australian Culinary Federation the road looks good ahead!
Looking forward to catching up with you all during the year……….Regards
Peter Wright
