Amalgamation

I hope you and your family are well & staying safe during this time. It is a tough time for all industries especially the hospitality industry, which has led to increased conversation at a National Board level and has highlighted the awareness that it would be beneficial for the ACF to become a National body or a single-entity professional association at this point in time.
The volunteer leaders/presidents of the national, state and territory associations have agreed to embark on a process to consider and investigate a restructure of the eight separate incorporated and unincorporated entities/ organisations into a single-entity professional association. I am aware that has been discussed several times in the history of the association but was not initiated. There has been discussion at both state and national levels, that for the ACF to become a truly representative body of all Chefs, Cooks, Apprentices and Culinary Students, it needs to be the one voice of all its members. The proposed change is to merge all Chapters into one organisation that represents all individual members on a National basis with one voice instead of eight. This would mean that all “ordinary members” currently a member of their Chapter would be a member of the National Association. This is how many of our fellow global Chefs Associations have gone for many years and has allowed these organisations that have a national approach to been seen by its members as being beneficial.
